What's Up by sending Benitez in , in the last 4 games, and giving up the game. Not only has he let the fans down, but think about the stats for the pitchers that get the loss for an unrelintfull outting. Here is a link that has a descution with Brian Sabean on 7-26-06, on the Giants Flag Station KNBR with The Razor and Mr. T. Link to 3.9MB Interview MP3 File . If you don't live in the SF Bay area and can't get the feed, please go here and lisen to the interview. See what you think. Last edited by rmjvol : 07-30-2006 at 10:13 PM. Reason: Edited mp3 link

Re: Benitez its just like the comparison to ortiz and arod in the clutch in my mind, either you got it in you or you dont. Closers are a different breed, i use to hang around my brother alot picking his mind he played up to AA with the rays and reds and was a pitcher. You talk to him about players he saw going up and said so many players look like a "lost fart" when they get the ball in the ninth, that somehow when they have a one run lead and a guy gets to first somehow, they just break down and worry about the guy on 1st instead of the batter and it just leads to alot of diaster. I think in someways closers dont need a 90+ mph they need one effective pitch, like Hoffman and his changeup. To many closers in my mind want 3 to 4 pitches, well how in the hell do you throw 4 pitches to hopefully just 3 batters. Closers needs to perfect 1 or 2 and leave it at that IMO. o ya sorry about my all my crappy grammer, i stink at writing lol

Re: Benitez In my first Post, I was trying to get the point accross on Sabean's comments with The Razor and Mr. T show, on how nobody should take the blame for the untimely mistakes that have occured in the past 8 games. Well it was 6 at the time of the Post. I beg to differ with that statement. Sabean said that he has no involvement with Philipe's manageing. Then the blame goes directly to Philipe. Rags is for sure not begging to put Benetiz in, as I'm sure none of the others are either. So send him down until he gets it together, and if he can't do it there, then it's a no brainer. But until he can prove that he is a closer, then let him set. the Rookie Sanchez or whoever he is, would be fine with me, he couldn't do any worse, and let him get some exposure NOW.

Re: Benitez if u attempt to send benitez down you wont have him anymore since he is out of optiona nd must clear waivers first, im sure someone would take him as a setup man. But i agree he isnt a closer and if that rook is good as you think he is then why not run him out there he has to have better save percentage then benitez

Re: Benitez Im' in Hawaii for a vacation so I'm trying to keep up on the internet with the games. The 3 hour difference really screws up my scheduel on watching or listening to the games. Just got in and seen the other loss on my score board tracker. Haven't followed up to see how they lost, but while going online at SFgiats.com, but I seen he new write up on Benitez from Philipe. "He is our closer and that is the way it will be". Too Bad
