Re: Agent: Bonds plays in '07 Barry should've become a DH five years ago. Think of how that would've prolonged his career (not to mention keeping the idiots in the stands from throwing syringes and toothpaste at him). I can't help but wonder if such a move wouldn't be coming too late in his career now, though.

Re: Agent: Bonds plays in '07 Lefty you should watch what you say. I don't see anybody getting to second base because Barry(weak arm) is in left. He still has one of the best arms in the game. But now for the real reason I came here. Check out this article, I thought you Barry fans...or should I say...Barry enthusiasts would enjoy. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/st...p-351869c.html

Re: Agent: Bonds plays in '07 I should watch what I say? Why, because I'm pointing out that if a guy in his late 30s or early 40s stops playing outfield to focus solely on hitting, that he effectively doubles his career -- and that by not making this change earlier, he probably lost the chance to play at least a few additional seasons? Where in my comments did I bash his fielding ability, pete? Show me.

Re: Agent: Bonds plays in '07 From my experiences with pete_b, I can tell that he is a Giants/Barry Bonds fan. But here is some advice for the future: Don't mess with the Admin! Since the Giants are part of the National League, a DH isn't really necessary. Barry Bonds as a DH would appear in almost half of the season (which means that you would divide his full-season statistics by two). Unless Barry Bonds gets acquired for some reason by an AL team, I don't think he has a bright future as a DH. In conclusion, I think that Jeff Borris wasn't sober (in other words, drunk) when he made that statement.

Re: Agent: Bonds plays in '07 I didn't mean anything by what I said. Sorry if it came off a little gruff. I just wanted to let pete know that I wasn't bashing Barry; just saying that he should've become a DH years ago. Not having to play the field would've added years to his career, don't you think?

Re: Agent: Bonds plays in '07 Absolutely. But then again, he puts no effort into his fielding so it is as if he is sitting on the bench. His knees are just in horrible condition. I am still surprised he gets up to the plate under those circumstances. What does his doctor say about this?

| Re: Agent: Bonds plays in '07 If Barry were to be a DH a few years ago, I don't think he would have hit 73 homers in a season(this occured in 2001, if I remember right). I'm a Giants fan, but that statement from Barry's agent was completely idiotic.

Re: Agent: Bonds plays in '07 Absolutely. He wouldn't appear in as many games which leads me to believe that he wouldn't be able to hit 73 homers (even if he was on performance enhancing drugs). I think his agent was just trying to switch the subject from steroids to Barry Bond's future. It was definitely not a powerful statement since ESPN does not make any references to it today. I think Barry Bonds' slump has covered up this bold projection. As yes Pete_B, I am calling Barry Bonds' .242 BA a slump!
