Yesterday, Jason Schmidt tossed a five-hit, complete game shutout in the Giants 2-0 win over the Brewers. It was San Fran's first complete-game shutout since Brett Tomko beat Florida on Aug. 26, 2004.

It looked like Alou was going to pull him in the ninth, but opted against it. According to what Schmidt told reporters after the game, "He came out and he said, 'How are you feeling?' I said I was feeling good. He said, 'Go after the guy. You're the man. Let's do it.'"

Gutsy call, but it paid off.

He is a talented pitcher. That just comes to show you what you can do when you put your effort into things. It is a great accomplishment for him and I suspect he should have a great season this year. I also would like to send my regards to Barry Bonds while I'm at the Giants forum. I am glad how close he has come to breaking Babe Ruth's record. Lets go Giants!
