Barry Bonds Grand Jury

The Giants split a double-header with the Astros yesterday. Anyone care? The media sure doesn't. They're too busy talking about the ongoing federal grand jury investigation into possible perjury charges against Barry Bonds. The possible indictment would stem back to Bonds' 2003 testimony that he never knowingly used steroids. Thoughts?

You know Gotham might be right. I may watch. For the way he's treated the media and fans, I would love to this guy squirm.

Re: Barry Bonds Grand Jury

There's no doubt in my mind that he lied to that Grand Jury when he said he unknowingly took steroids. He made his bed, he now must lie in it.

Yeah, sure, everyone accepts this, but it doesn't really matter, does it? Our boy Billy Clinton got busted for perjury, was impeached, was embarassed nationally (although god only knows if he felt that way), was FOUND GUILTY and got...well, who remembers? I do. He was suspended from practicing law for six months. Keanu: "Whoa."

Though it's no surprise that Clinton got off (ha ha), Bonds is a far less likable character. Federal probe or no, it doesn't matter. (What happened to McGwire? Or Clarence Thomas for that matter?) All that does matter is how much b.s. Bud Selig is willing to deal with. I say a lot.

No doubt Bonds will be his ordinary charming self, be found guilty, get a slap on the wrist, miss maybe a doubleheader against the Diamondbacks, break Ruth's record, and all will be forgiven.

He could be elected President.

Cheers, all.

Re: Barry Bonds Grand Jury

The original post in this thread was made 14 months ago. And now?

"It's possible that the U.S. Attorney's office in San Francisco and the U.S. Department of Justice have already decided whether to seek an indictment against Barry Bonds next month," the New York Daily News is reporting. "But with acting U.S. Attorney Scott School's announcement that he may leave office as soon as July13, lawyers watching the case said it's possible School's replacement will seek to extend the grand jury, delaying a decision for the second time."
