Barry Bonds gets walked again and again

Three games into the season, no home runs. Then again, he didn't have many chances.
Bonds drew his first two intentional walks of the season, struck out and grounded weakly to first Thursday in the Giantshome opener, a 6-4 win over the Braves.

Okay, so how am I ever gonig to get any Fantasy value out of Barry if they keep intentionally walking the guy? How come the all-time greats like Ruth and Williams did not get as many walks? Not that they didn't get a fair share...just not as many.

I don't think anyone in that lineup but Barry scares opposing managers. So why chance it? Of course, that philosophy obviously backfired here, because San Fran won the game. So SOMEBODY else is hitting.

Re: Barry Bonds gets walked again and again

Ruth had Lou Gehrig batting behind him. Williams had good hitters behind him. Bonds has the washed up son of the manager hitting behind him.

Re: Barry Bonds gets walked again and again

Now picture them trying to pitch around him if he was the DH in New York, for example. It wouldn't happen.

Well Gotham, you should get something out of Bonds' total bases... You should add the guy who comes before and after bonds to your fantasy team. The guy who comes before will see a lot of strikes and hittable pitches. The guy after Bonds will have one or two guys to bring in!
