| Bonds focus is incredible This guy absolutely thrives on negative attention! I, like the rest of the world that has not buried their head in the sand, think he used steroids. Heck, I could see that a couple years back when he hit a home run against the Yankees in the Stadium halfway up the upper deck, where nobody hits them, nobody. That being said, I have never seen a player so zeroed in at the plate. And nothing going on around him bothers him.
Let me make this point too. Could it be that he knows the steroid use was so widespread that he is simply waiting for all of baseball to be exposed, exonerating him in his own mind for having to use them or risk being not able to compete?
And if you were a pitcher that thought this guy was the biggest offender of steroid abuse, with the numbers he has put up off of your fellow hurlers, would you not drill Barry Bonds every chance you got? What would the be the downside of this? You would be a hero in the baseball public's eye. Except maybe you don't hit him whenever you can because you know that you yourself or several of your own team's pitchers have used the stuff.
Do not interpret this as a defense of Bonds, what he has done is reprehensible. But being the jaded individual I am, I figure there is always more to the story. Many of the same writers that made lots of money with stories of home run chases and records have now turned on the same players they once fawned over. How many of them plagiarized something in school or took drugs of any kind? |
