maybe that rivalry is bigger but i don't think it is better, that passion in the Giants-Dodgers series is always incredible. plus the yankees-red sox is always so over-hyped with outside media like dice-k pitching or blah blah, it is never about the baseball

I have always admitted that I am not the biggest baseball fanatic in the world but isn't the pitcher still a part of the baseball game ?? And isn't the media interested in the vastly overpaid players ???

You know, I kind of agree with you, my man. Yankees vs. Red Sox is way oversaturated in the media, just like the Subway Series stuff is. What about Cubs - White Sox and Cubs - Cardinals? Those four plus the Giants - Dodgers would have to be the big five in terms of MLB rivalries. I guess the Beltway Series is growing in stature some, but it's hard to take it too seriously until those teams get better.

Exactly, that is why this deal is so great. Even L.A. fans would attend this "Giants" event. This rivalry is great, it is just that it isn't as well known as NY/Boston.....I also found another contest on the Giants site about a sleepover at the park after one of the games and a chance to meet the SF players...that sounds pretty cool too!!

my point is, there are more great rivalries than just the yanks-sox...people are so hyped up about it....now that the yankees arent as good, is the series still as great as it used to be?....the giants dodgers is just the west coast version (less hyped) of the sox/yanks....i mean we have bonds, come on

The Dodgers-Giants has been going on for ages as well. However, you cannot compare which is more significant because it depends on which coastline you settle on.
