Barry Bonds home run watch

Bonds hit his first homer of the season yesterday. According to the Associated Press, "Bonds moved a step closer to Hank Aaron's home run record Wednesday night, hitting his 735th homer in the first inning of the San Francisco Giants' 5-3 loss to the San Diego Padres, who got a tiebreaking two-run homer from Adrian Gonzalez in the eighth."

ESPN is predicting he'll hit 30 dingers and break Ted Williams over-40 HR record. What do you think?

Cool Re: Barry Bonds home run watch

I think nobody except ESPN is going to care when he breaks it. We all know it's BS. If Hank Aaron took the steroids that Bonds took, he might have hit 1000 homers.

I heard rumors that Aaron said something in a recent interview about Bonds breaking the record, and it wasn't positive. I'd love to hear what Hammerin' Hank's opinion on the topic was... anyone know exactly what he said?

I'm not going to go on the Bonds bashing parade. There has been NO EVIDENCE shown that he has used steroids, so I'm not going to say he has.

I don't care if Bonds breaks the record, but if he does, then congrats to ESPN, they have something huge to report.

I care, I own him in the GTG league...If he breaks it, that means he is hitting homers for me...lets keep it all in perspective here...

I think that Simpson couldn't touch Barry hitting a baseball...and I have seen few people run like the Juice...as a small child I remember seeing the last game of the 2003 season on TV, whre he broke Jim Brown's all-time single season record in the snow...everything else aside, I've gotten a kick out of watching them both play.

Actually, there's a lot of evidence. Does his girlfriend's recollections mean anything to you? And how about all of the BALCO packages he received and the fact that Greg Anderson (pictured below) was with him 24 hours a day?

Good one good one... but he has taken tests for steroids, and he's failed all of them.

Re: Barry Bonds home run watch

Bonds had his 70th career multi-homer game yesterday, roughing up my Pirates in the process.

He now needs just 19 more to break the all-time record, which is more and more looking like an inevitablility than a possibility.

Re: Barry Bonds home run watch

Barry Bonds is to me just a jerk, he was always against the media(which at sometimes he has a good reason) whiny about himself, what really made me mad when he put the race card into him being investigated for steriods and the HR Race. QUITTT YOUR WHINING BARRY!!!! No this man to me I hate so much, to my thought he did those steriods and just the sad part, will never get caught. And that to me, and I think to Aaron, is BS VERY BS!!!
