I can't wait for him to break the record.
THANK YOU! No one can say Bonds used steroids, when there has been NO EVIDENCE proving so, and the tests Bonds has taken proves that. Until the tests have proven Bonds used steroids, I will not claim he has, because there is no evidence saying that.

Whiskey, you could take as much steroids, human growth hormones, testosterome, pills, vitamins, and drugs as you want and still couldn't hit as many homeruns as Bonds. Matter of fact, most people in the world can't. So whether Bond's does it or doesn't he is still a beast.

That's great for Bonds. Too bad he acts like a donkey all the time. A beast of a donkey, perhaps, but still an ass.

If we only cared about athletes' talent(s), then sports would be rather bland.

I could care less how he acts when he's not on the field. I mean being an ass isn't illegal right? Reggie Jackson, Mr. October, A Hall of Famer, was a jerk off the field. He once refused to sign a kid's autograph after waiting hours in the rain after a game. However, that doesn't take away from what he did on the field.

Don't get me wrong though I don't like jerks and am not promoting them. But you have to understand he isn't getting paid to be nice to everyone. I'm sorry he's a donkey.

Other than discussing the ecological, and biological description of Barry Bonds, why don't we discuss his impact on baseball? Is he the best ever?

I would say Ruth was better since he was also an All_Star pitcher...though Bonds adds a dimension of speed...

Re: Barry Bonds home run watch

I would say that title still belongs to Ty Cobb, Willie Mays, or Babe Ruth. (not in that order)

Ruth with a slight edge over Cobb and Mays with Ted Williams and Dimaggio objecting terribly...

I've always been partial to Mays because he was a complete player, and if he didn't go to war, he could've hit 800 homers. Just ask him.

Williams lost more years to the war...no way Mays would have gotten to 800...no way in heck...having said that...great all around talent...but ruth pitched and pitched well...ya gotta give him the nod on that...

No arguement he is great...but there are at least a half dozen to a dozen players that would beg to differ that he is the greatest of all-time...

I think it might be safe to say he's the best pure slugger of all time, but I'd rather take a more complete player - Ruth, Mays, Teddy Ballgame - over Bonds. He did have quite a bit of speed during his days with the Bucs, though, I have to admit that. Seems like a lifetime ago though.
