Re: Barry Bonds home run watch

OJ=Bonds? This is getting a bit off-track, here.

Do you think that Bonds will hit more HRs than Gary Sheffield this season?

The only decent hitter this week for my GTG team...Go Barry!...

When asked once for Sports Illustrated what athlete (any sport) he would pay to go see...Barry Bonds, in true Barry fashioned replied, "I would put my money in the stock market and go on someone elses ticket"...gotta love it...TO with a bit less charisma...

Bonds hit 738 yesterday against Ryan Franklin of the Cardinals, for those still following along.

A-Rod hit #473 yesterday. I'll be much happier when he passes Bonds (and actually gets cheered for it).

Re: Barry Bonds home run watch

You could project this kind of information, but it is almost unpredictable how many homeruns he will hit in five years from now. Of course, he could also be injured, which would cease his statistics.

And they also said Ken Griffey Jr would have had over 700 homeruns when his career was over, and look what happend. You can't judge something like that with so many obstacles that stand in the way.

True, but I can still hope.

The second someone passes Bonds' mark, he will be cast into obscurity because nobody respects him. Except Goth.

That's the way the media is.

No, not Gotham Dark Knight. I have already broken Hank Aaron's Post Record.

Bonds update, courtesy of the Associated Press: "Barry Bonds hit his 739th career home run and Barry Zito put together his second straight scoreless outing to earn his first win at home with the San Francisco Giants, a 1-0 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday." He's inching closer and closer... any predictions as to which month he'll ultimately pass Aaron?

Yep. As long as A-Rod stays healthy, he has a shot at breaking a ton of records. But he has to stay healthy in order to do that.

Re: Barry Bonds home run watch

I think because of age, pace he is on, and the crack down on sterioids, A-Rod is the only contender to the record in the forseeable future...I also think that as an infielder he will not be prone to some of Griffey's outfield related injuries.

Re: Barry Bonds home run watch

Barry goes yard again today. According to the AP, "Barry Bonds is beginning to close in on Hank Aaron -- fast... Bonds hit his 740th home run Sunday, connecting for the second consecutive game and helping Matt Cain earn his first win of the season in the San Francisco Giants' 2-1 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks."

A-Rod will undoubtedly catch Barry someday, but for now, it's Barry's show and he's only 15 from Hammerin' Hank.
