Should the Giants seriously consider extending the contract of a 40-year-old shortstop?

Sure, when the man is still producing at his position. Do you know how many errors he produced last year? Not many to my recollection.

The guy is amazing. the Indians got rid of him because they thought his career was finished. Since he left, he has produced at the same level. He will be able to find a job as long as he can still field.

I just looked on sfgiants.com and found out that in 152 games played, Omar had only four errors. That is a tremendous amount seeing that he is 39 years old, playing SS. Darn tooting a contract should be extended to Omar! Then, after his playing days, make him a fielding coach!
