| Barry Bonds positive amphetamines test Well, as I'm sure most of you have heard by now, Giants OF Barry Bonds tested positive for amphetamines last season. Now, he claims it was because of something he took from a teammate's locker. The teammate is denying it, and no one is saying what this mysterious substance was. ESPN is now reporting that the Giants knew about the failed test when they resigned him. What do you guys think about all of this?

I think when they start taking Pulitzer prizes for writers being on speed to meet a deadline...the writers who vote for the HOF might stop feeling they are "pristine pillars of all that's moral".... |

Hall of Famer 1st ballot...Gaylord Perry broke the rules left and right...got glorified for it and is in the Hall...Baseball turns its back on a sport with over 50% popping pills...so you have pill takers squaring off against pill takers and the commish looking the other way...so who has the advantage?...and while you are at it...they haven't made the pill that improves eyesight and hand eye coordination that hitters like Bonds need...or else every one would have a +.500 on base precentage... The guy belongs in Hall next to Rose, Big Mac, and Shoeless Joe...I never like Palmero all that much...but I am not opposed from adding Jose Canseco... |

| Re: Barry Bonds positive amphetamines test The Giants haven't officially re-signed him yet, they're still negotiating details of the contract. As for the positive test, I don't think it means much. If he tests positive again for it, he'll get suspended for 25 games though. Amphetamine usage was a normal part of playing the game for decades. At least MLB just started to look out for their players health and banned some of them. |

| Re: Barry Bonds positive amphetamines test This is a first failed test that was somehow leaked to the New York Daily News. Most people believe it was someone from the commissioner's office that was the "anonymous" source. Bonds faces up to six additional tests this year for banned substances. Someone in baseball really wants to get rid of this guy, and I can't say I blame them. |

Simon, take off the rose colored glasses. I don't disagree with you but in todays world punishment is progressive, not immediate. Strawberry wasn't removed from baseball after the first positive test. Lord knows he should have been but again ... punishment is generally passed out in a progressive manner. That is the way our justice system works and if you didn't know it yet here is another fact. The more famous you are and the more money you have, the less punishment there actually is.
