Pedro Feliz

After all this kid has done for the Giants over the year -- playing OF when Bonds got hurt last year, playing first when J.T. Snow went down in 2004, filling it at short -- he finally gets to open the season as the starter at his natural position, third base. He led San Fran with 20 HRs, 81 RBI and 69 runs scored in '05. Think he can hold down the fort at the hot corner?

Lefty,

I actually thought that the Pirates were going to trade for Feliz. He's a little older than you think. He also needs to cut his strikeouts down.

Re: Pedro Feliz

The versatility he demonstrated last season could have type-casted him as Mr. Utility. The Giants were smart enough early on to realize that his bat needed to be in the lineup, and as a result he produced breakout numbers for a team that desperately needed offense. My guess is that Bonds' presense in the lineup will only enhance his ability to see quality pitches, as his .295 OBP is going to have to improve. Feliz wasn't a liability with the glove either, and defensively the Giants have one of the better infields in the National League.

Re: Pedro Feliz

Definitely needs to cut down on his strike outs. His 20 HRs come from a bat that loves to hack at anything juicy. If he can add more patience to his resume, he'll not only up his average, but drive in a few more runs as well. Feliz could establish himself as premeire 3B and make the sports pages more frequently.
