Can Schmidt Come Back?

Jason Schmidt was hampered by injuries last year and seemed to have lost some stuff off his fastball. He still managed to go 6-2 after the All-Star Break, though, and finished 12-7 with a 4.40 ERA in 29 starts. Think he can get his velocity back this season and once again become a dominant starter? What kind of pitcher do the Giants have in him right now?

Schmidt will rock!

The guy is such a professional. Guys like him just put in the necessary work in the off-season so they can prove to themselves and everyone else that they "still got it". The great ones always feel like they have something to prove, and he's a great one.

Re: Can Schmidt Come Back?

I am hoping, along with Alou and Sabean, that Schmidt can come back. He not only has to recover from his injuries physically but mentally as well. A 5 point ERA can devastate you mentally and I hope that he, for the Giants sake, can see himself as the hard thrower that he is. However, this being his tenth year, maybe its good that he got hurt in away so that he can develop into a pitcher with more than just a blow by fastball.
