| Armando Benitez trade rumors Looks like the San Francisco Giants might be looking to deal Armando Benitez to the Phillies for Pat Burrell -- at least, according to the Philadelphia Daily News, which is reporting that Burrell would waive his no-trade clause to go to the Bay, but that San Fran would want to dump Benitez and his $7.6 million salary in exchange for the outfielder. Thoughts about this possible trade?

| Re: Armando Benitez trade rumors I think this rumor is now dead, but if not, I think it would be a great move for the Giants. The one minor leaguer they have now who is major league ready is Brian Anderson, closer. They need to make over the team, and they need to do it without continuing to trade away their minor league system in doing so. Burrell has great per game played stats. He's often injured which reduces his year end numbers, but make him a relative bargain. If the Giants could get him for Benitez he could really help get the rebuild off to a great start. |

| Re: Armando Benitez trade rumors Welcome to GoTeamsGo, chibulls23! I believe you're right, Burrell played first base when he came up with the Phillies in 2000. He might return to that position, if he's traded to San Fransisco, but I doubt Philadelphia will be too eager to deal him. And the Benitez rumor appears to be quite dead... |
