| Giants hire Bruce Bochy According to reports, ex-Padres manager Bruce Bochy will be announced today as the new skipper of the San Francisco Giants. "Bochy had agreed in principle to take the job left vacant when Felipe Alou's contract was not renewed," the AP claims. "Barring any last-minute snags, Bochy would be introduced at a news conference Friday. Normally, Major League Baseball frowns upon such announcements during the World Series, but the Giants will be excused because Bochy is set to leave Monday for Japan with an all-star team." Well, what do you think of the Bochy hire? Is he the right guy for the Giants?

| That would be my only question - Why would the Padres let hiim walk to a division rival? Sort of like when the A's held the door open and stuck the Mets with Art Howe. Usually, it's not a good sign when a team lets a manager walk like that - especially to a division rival. |

| Re: Giants hire Bruce Bochy Art Howe never accomplished anything with the Mets. And, they a had a great team that year with Mo Vaughn and Roberto Alomar. I still have my good old Alomar jersey stuffed into the back of my closet somewhere! It still brings back some unforgettable memories of bloopers. |

| Re: Giants hire Bruce Bochy I guess it was about money with Bochy (deservingly so) wanting more money than San Diego was willing to pay. I don't know why else they would let the guy go. Quote:

| Re: Giants hire Bruce Bochy You know what "they" always say.... You just don't know what you have until it's GONE! Maybe Sandy & KT will see that somewhere down the road, Then again, maybe not. My guess? Bochy is being Bochy. Good for HIM! But it's a darn shame for the Padre's, because he's a hellava Manager. Hello San Francisco! |
