Felipe Alou stepping down

According to media reports, Felipe Alou is set to step down as the manager of the San Francisco Giants. His contract his up, and Alouis is said to be disappointed that the team has not been negotiating with him about an extension, and that now it was "too late to talk" about a new deal now. This move surprise anyone? And who will be the next manager of the Giants?

Nothing with that team should surprise. Him possibly leaving only further allows Sabean to officially rebuild. They need to inject (no pun intended) some youth into the team.

Re: Felipe Alou stepping down

Why don't the Giants just end the franchise so that the Dodgers can reach the Playoffs easier? San Francisco doesn't stand a chance in the NL West with the way that they performed this season.

Re: Felipe Alou stepping down

Today, I have heard from various news sources that if Barry sticks around, he won't be the focal point of the team anymore. Mr. Saeban has been quoted to be saying that the focus of the team needs to go in a different direction. Felipe Alou not being manager anymore is just the first step in what will be a very long off-season for my Giants.

Re: Felipe Alou stepping down

I couldn't believe it when I found out how old Randy Winn is. At 35+ years old, I am amazed that he is still a solid slugger even though 35+ is usually considered old for a baseball player.

What does his future look like with the Giants?

Why not? So the steroid contravresy dies down? So Barry doesn't break Aaron' record? Is it because that the homerun record is the last, great record of earlier times not broken yet? Can I have some reasons?

Re: Felipe Alou stepping down

But his 715-755 career homeruns will still count in the record books.
