49ers unveil new stadium design

The San Francisco 49ers have unveiled design details on their proposed $937 million stadium south of San Francisco that would seat 68,500 and include solar panels and a green roof, as they move forward with plans to relocate to the South Bay city of Santa Clara.
Team officials presented the details Tuesday to the Santa Clara City Council, saying it would allow more fans to get closer to the field by expanding seating in the lower bowl.
It would also bring the upper deck closer to the field by stacking suites and clubs on one side, instead of wrapping them around the facility. The stadium, scheduled to open in 2014, would accommodate up to 75,000 people for big events such as the Super Bowl.
Whether the field at the new stadium would be grass or artificial turf has yet to be decided, 49ers spokesman Steve Fine said.

Well, where are the cities getting the money? Most of them cant afford to keep up their infrastructures, help the poor, or keep enough police on the streets. But they can build these multimillion dollar stadiums?

They sell bonds that pay off at a later date.

But will Santa Clara voters approve of it? Voters can be finicky if a team has continued losing seasons and the owner is a tool. That's why the 49ers need to win now, playoffs or .500 will seal the deal in Santa Clara and maybe inspire the voters.

That's the way it is here and Arlington still voted it in.

This actually bothers me too Bette. I think the bottom line although the economy is horrible for the average person, it definetely is great for the upper middle and wealthy in a buyer/investor's market.

Where most of the money is coming from, I am guessing, is from proceeds from sales of season tickets and lucrative TV contracts. There are fans who continue to pay the outrageous prices of season tickets every year despite escalating prices. Yes, in most cases you do need the city's help with a special tax or like what was mentioned "sales of bonds."

49ers building a 937 million dollar stadium? Are they not in the state of California which is on the verge of bankruptcy??? LOL This looks so bad.

I hope Santa Clara votes it in. I'd be happy if we were in Santa Clara. Hunter's Point is an insult. Is the Cowboys' stadium better then the Arizona stadium? I feel it is, the one in Ari was called something from space if I recall.
