Re: The Next Antonio Gates?

The next Antonio Gates? Probably not, but former Oklahoma State and Long Beach State basketball player Onye Ibekwe has signed with the San Francisco 49ers and will try to follow in Gates footsteps. Considering how loaded San Fran already is at the tight end position, I don't think he's got much of a chance though. Unless he plays so well that they change their mind and decide to deal Eric Johnson after all.

Cool Re: The Next Antonio Gates?

Why is SF so obsessed with the tight end position? They have so much more to worry about.

Re: The Next Antonio Gates?

That is an excellent way to look at the situation, ThePundit. It is important to make sure that you have an even depth chart, so that your team can succeed. It is also important to have strong strings though, just in case of a unexpected injury that might force you to put in the next player on your depth chart. The New York Jets experienced that dilemna last season and are currently building up their roster to prevent that mayhem.

This basketball player doesn't have a big chance at making himself a giant reputation in the NFL. Antonio Gates is a talented athlete who adapted quickly to football even though he had his heart on the hoops. It is very difficult to come around a player like that. I think that the San Francisco 49ers should stop dreaming about what could happen, and snap back to reality. They should focus on promised improvements and halt these risky choices and gambles.

By the way, can you please tell me where I can find the state of Long Beach? I don't remember Long Beach being part of the 50 states in America.

I think Long Beach State is in California. But I'm not 100% sure.
