Re: Vernon Davis bringing new attitude to 49ers

Seems like rookie tight end Vernon Davis is bringing some attitude to the San Francisco 49ers. According to this story, he has "gotten into it with linebacker Brandon Moore during an OTA practice and spiked the ball at the feet of safety Chad Williams after catching a touchdown pass. The latter transgression apparently resulted in teammates having to subdue Jeff Ulbrich who took exception to the display." This kind of intensity good or bad during training camp?

Bad. Memories of Meshawn Johnson coming up. Rookies should have attitude but since they never played an NFL game should not be trying to show up their teammates. From a veteran it might and I say might spark a team but for a rookie its like having a 3rd grader come in and start yelling at high school seniors what to do and how great he is...it looks silly.

In most cases, I'd agree with you. But the one exception is when a team is as bad and lifeless as the Niners are. They need some reason to get fired up and ticked off, you know? And if it takes Vernon Davis to get in this D's face a little bit and get them ready to go out and hit someone, well, so be it.

Well if Davis can revive and put a charge into what I agree is a lifeless team then he was well worth the pick. Of course he has to back all that bravado up on the NFL gridiron or else its just a kid being a brat. Itll be interesting to watch the Niners this season for the first time in a while.
