49ers Sign Jamie Martin
The San Francisco 49ers have added another quarterback.
Adam Schefter of NFL Network is reporting that the 49ers signed Jamie Martin today. Martin will serve as the third-stringer, behind starter J.T. O’Sullivan and backup Shaun Hill.
Although there’s no definitive word on the condition of Alex Smith’s injured shoulder, signing Martin indicates that the 49ers don’t expect to have Smith back this season. Smith has probably thrown his last pass for the team that took him with the first pick in the 2005 NFL draft.
