Although Mike Martz usually omits TE's from his game plans, he has said he plans to use Vernon Davis.
Davis is a fantastic athlete, but has been criticized for dropping passes, run routes wrong, and getting called for illegal procedure.
He will need to be more disciplined, lose the attitude and pay more attention to details to earn Martz's trust.

Lefty not to get in a battle here but let see if i see ur views correctly,Frank Gore is clearly not cut out for martz offense they should try to trade as u said he's "no Faulk",now Vernon Davis will have a terrible year,wont be used? Just one question,should we stay home these year not watch any games because pretty much the hire of Martz killed us?

Ha ha, no, sorry... I don't mean to sound so negative. I'm just trying to piece together in my head how he's gonna make it all work. I'm sure he'll find a way, but I don't think it's going to be quite the same Mike Martz offense we've gotten used to seeing over the years. I still think in the right scheme, Davis is going to be a Pro Bowl tight end.

Martz knows one of his biggest challenges will be creating specific packages for Davis so he can get the ball to the tight end.

"In this system, you have so much flexibility within the numbers that you can be creative with a guy like him," Martz told the Sacramento Bee late last month, indicating that the coach does indeed have a plan—at least the beginnings of one—for Davis.

Martz has said he could envision lining up the tight end in the slot and in the backfield. Still it is clear that the coach understands Davis will need time to learn the offense.

This is what Martz said in the article so it sounds like he does intend to use Davis. He also said that the 49ers are more talented than the Lions were when he went there and Davis is part of that talent.

Davis is all mouth no game. He sure pumps up the fans and give the Niners that "attitude" by dropping passes and his horrendous route running skills. My chosen moment is when this yutz does what they all do and that's guarantee that his team will win a particular game which they won't and he'll do nothing positive in it. The most productive thing Martz can do with this offense is omit Vernon Davis from it!!

hey Dusty don't get rusty u need to read that post again just wanted to know he's views that he's posted this one and some other threads,but it's cool u trying to ride in like knight and shining armour,cause u feel me just look useless shockey got hurt and won a superbowl it was more of a joke then anything,oh ya brown noseing get u no were.
