Come on, who are they kidding? Davis is a physical marvel. He ran the fastest 40-time ever by a tight end at the combine. Nothing against Johnson, but there's no chance whatsoever that he beats out the #1 draft pick, right?

I think that Johnson has proven himself as a capable TE. There may be a lot of two TE sets in the Niners future. Which would not be bad.

Hmm... good point, candlejack. Running a lot of single-back ace-formation sets could well give this team its best chance of winning. Like I said, I have nothing against Johnson, but obviously they wanted Davis for a reason. He looks like a real playmaker out of the TE position. Johnson may get a lot of playing time, but I imagine Davis will be the top TE on the depth chart, wouldn't you say?
