| 49ers QB Smith to undergo shoulder surgery Alex Smith confirmed Sunday that he'll undergo season-ending shoulder surgery as soon as next week. Smith is expected to face three months of rehab, so he should be ready for training camp. But the surgery could sap some of Smith's already modest arm strength.
