This seems to be a popular opinion, especially among members of the forum. I personally don't think the Niners reached for Davis. The kid's a phenom and all signs point to him putting up dominant numbers at his position. So what if Jay Novacek was a sixth round pick? Tom Brady was too, but that doesn't mean that the Steelers shouldn't have taken Big Ben in the first round. Terrell Davis was too, but that didn't discourage anyone from saying Reggie Bush should've been the top overall pick. You draft the guy that can most help your team win. For the Niners, that was unquestionably Vernon Davis. Am I wrong?
