Always vital for a team to have at least one veteran QB on the roster, and a guy like Dilfer, while not spectacular, is a guy who knows how to win football games. I think this would be a good solid pickup for San Fran, but at the same time, I'd be surprised if Cleveland let him get away.

Ah, now candlejack, Dilfer brings the experience of being both an overhyped rookie and a Super Bowl champion at different points in his career. He can do a lot to coach up Alex Smith, and if Smith should happen to go down, there are worse guys you could have stepping in than Dilfer. I'll never know what Baltimore was thinking when they dumped him for Elvis Grbac.

I had forgotten about that. Got a good laugh out of that one. One thing, Trent Dilfer was told by the Ravens not to lose the Super Bowl, not to go out and win it, which is what he would have to do if he became the starter.
