So who are the top three 49ers of All-time?

I mean the obvious is Golden Joe, Rice and Young...but I am going off the wall on the last pick and say John Brodie.

How about the best three OTHER than Montana and Rice? Tough to choose from Young, Ronnie Lott, Brodie and Hugh McElhenny.

Yeah, Roger Craig... often overlooked, but the first running back to pull off a 1,000-1,000 season, if I recall correctly. Good call Ramsfan!

People forget the runner for the 49ers dynasty but he played a fairly big role, it wasn`t just Montana and Rice winning those Super Bowls.

You guys are forgetting the greatest wide receiver I ever saw, bar none. Played in an era where the DBs could maul you, had no size, but was a highlight reel waiting to happen every play. Gotham, you are probably old enough to remmeber Gene "the Bomb" Washington. Brodie's favorite target. And don't forget guys like Cedric Hardman and Jimmy Johnson, and Frank Nunley. Now those were the days of football.

Rice is the most dominant player in any position in the history of the NFL so he's #1 without a thought. Other than that Montana has to be there simply for all his success and hey, how about Randy Cross? I mean centers never get any credit but if you think about it it's hard to find a better center than him and he was the anchor of that offensive line. Just a thought.

Cross is cool...but how can he muscle past some of the big names on this team?

I'm a strict Young hater, I'll admit that before I get into this conversation. He should have rang off three or more superbowls with that team! He was great during the season, but was overshadowed by a lesser tallented Green Bay Packers year after year, because he wasn't as good as Favre. I'll stop being a hater now, he was GREAT! Really great, but Lott needs to be 3rd on this list. When you think of the best safeties of all-time, there is no debate who the best ever is...I think anyhow.

And another thing, I would be hard pressed to put Rice above Montana for the same reason. Personally I love Montana more then any other QB ever. I'd put it him above Rice all day everyday...but I'd feel like I'm lying. Rice is the beginning and end of the who's the best ever for WR's. So the right list would look like 1: Rice, 2: Montana, and 3: Lott. My two cents.
