San Francisco's not the team they used to be, that's for sure. But they did have some great players in their heyday. If you were going to run a dream draft to pick the starters for the best team in 49ers history, who would they be?

I'd like to start with one of the easy ones, and make the first overall pick be the G.O.A.T. -- the greatest receiver in the history of the game, WR Jerry Rice. Who will the second pick in this fantasy Niners draft be?

Hmmm...there are plenty of candiates, but I would probably have to take one of their top three QBs, Joe Montana, Steve Young or John Brodie...I guess I would go with Joe...

Okay, we've got Joe Montana at QB and Jerry Rice at one WR slot. I think I'll go defense with the #3 pick just like the Green Bay draft, and just like that one I'll go with a saftey - Ronnie Lott, a 10-time Pro Bowl selection and a member of the NFL 75th Anniversary Team. Hopefully in the next few picks we'll get someone who didn't play in the 80s...
