Re: New 49ers Stadium

Check out this article - http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/articl...AG1BI47JJ1.DTL . It looks like they're trying to bypass the voters by changing the terms of the agreement to include some kind of housing development alongside a previously approved mall. Something doesn't quite jive about that, if you ask me.

Re: New 49ers Stadium

More intrigue regarding the new Niners stadium. Apparently now the team wants to develop a new play that would not use the $100 million promised by the city.

Check out this article from the San Francisco Chronicle - http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/articl...AG3OI6BTI1.DTL - which claims that team executives feel "the original stadium-mall deal isn't financially workable." and that with "the politics of the city, changing the original deal would mean going back to unpredictable voters for reapproval."

What are the odds they ever get a new stadium built in San Francisco?

Post 49ers Owners Propose New Stadium Plans To Residents

Jun.7 - KGO - The San Francisco 49ers are on offense tonight-- taking the plan to move the team out of the city--- straight to the people of Santa Clara and going door-to-door.

Can Francisco 49er owner, john York and his son Jed, are not sitting back, while waiting for Santa Clara's City Council to make a decision on whether to build a new football stadium.

They're taking their message directly to the residents of Santa Clara, 15 to 20 people at a time.

Jed York, Special Projects Manager: "When you can sit down and ask the owners of the team directly what are doing in Santa Clara. How are going to approach this problem, and you get an answer from the owners themselves, it's very powerful."

Members of the 49er organization say they've talked to well over 1,300 city residents about the stadium.

John York, San Francisco 49er Owner: "Sometimes they have questions that have come up, that are extremely interesting, that we need to go back and look at. They've helped us put the project together to have made it better."

Re: 49ers Owners Propose New Stadium Plans To Residents

The Niners sure seem pretty serious about wanting their new stadium to be in Santa Clara. Think they can sell the residents on the idea?
