Former San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Antonio Bryant has been given one year of probation and fined $1,312 after pleading no contest to misdemeanor reckless driving in a case in which police allegedly clocked him going over 100 mph.
Officers stopped Bryant on Nov. 20 in San Mateo after his orange Lamborghini was spotted blazing down Highway 101. Bryant, 26, scuffled with officers as they tried to arrest him and appeared to be intoxicated, police said.
Bryant refused to take a Breathalyzer test, which under state law typically results in a one-year license suspension for the first offense. He appealed, however, and a state Department of Motor Vehicles hearing officer ruled his license would not be suspended.
Bryant did not appear in a South San Francisco courtroom for the plea Thursday, which his attorney entered on his behalf. Under the plea deal, prosecutors dropped a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest.
The 49ers released Bryant on March 1. He has not been signed by another team.
