| Re: Norv Turner Him leaving the 49ers could really hurt the development of Alex Smith. I want to see Turner stay in San Francisco because I think he can make something out of Smith, whom I thought was going to bust. However, Smith still has a lot of work to do if he wants to reach his potential and being under the tutelage of a quarterback guru goes a long way in helping his progression. Take away that guidance, and who knows what befalls Smith. |

| Re: Norv Turner I agree it would be best for Smith's development if Turner stays, but there must be other good QB coaches out there and it will be vital for the 49ers to hire one. In the Debartalo years they had a way of finding these guys: Walsh and Holmgren in particular, who really played a big part in developing Montana and Young. They have too much invested in Smith (both monetarily and in terms of credit with the fans) to fail to find another, similar coach, should Turner leave. |

| Re: Norv Turner Well, it just goes to show you how much I know about my football team! He goes to the Chargers to be the Head Coach! That just SUCKS! I can't really fault the man for wanting to go to somewhere to be in the Big Chair, but to leave after such a promising season last year really blows. I guess I can write off the Niners for a few years to come now!

| Re: Norv Turner Funny how things work out. Norv Turner was in line for the Cowboys head coaching job, but that is awarded to Wade Phillips. In turn, The Chargers job that was to go to Wade Phillips went to Turner instead. Funny how things turn out. |
