Titans-49ers Preview

The Tennessee Titans may be a different team with Vince Young re-installed as the starting quarterback and Chris Johnson coming off the best game of his career.

San Francisco's Alex Smith can relate to Young as far as being a high draft pick trying to resurrect his career after a difficult start.
Young and Johnson look to help the Titans earn a second straight victory when they try to hand the banged-up 49ers a fourth straight loss Sunday.

Tennessee earned its first win last week, beating Jacksonville 30-13. Young, named the starter after Kerry Collins guided the Titans to an 0-6 mark, responded by completing 15 of 18 passes for 125 yards and a touchdown.

It was Young's second start since 2007.
"He looked all right out there," owner Bud Adams said about the No. 3 overall pick in the 2006 draft. "I think he's coming around a lot. I think there's some things that happened to him early in his career that didn't let him concentrate on football. I think he realized he needed to work at it hard. And he has shown that."

While Young was steady, the Titans' first victory was really keyed by Johnson. The second-year running back rushed for a franchise-record 228 yards on 24 carries and scored two touchdowns.

The Titans finally got their first win of the year last week with Vince Young starting @ QB. Of course, they were playing the Jaguars who have struggled big time this season. 49ers played the Colts really tough last week before losing a tough game last week. Alex Smith seems to be an improvement for the offense but the bottom line is they keep losing.

Prediction: 49ers 31 Titans 21

Very funny Bette. I don't know, didn't the Titans defense give up 59 points in a game a couple weeks ago? I figure if the 49ers score close to half of that total, this is a blowout?

Chris Johnson is hungry for another win - and I think VY is too.

No dear, this game was the Patriots vs Titans in the snow where the Titans got blown out 59-0. Are you telling me the 49ers couldn't hang 31 points on this horrible defense? I know everybody is excited about Vince Young but last I heard...he doesn't play defense? LOL

No, I meant you are talking about the 49ers now. The Pats and the 49ers are not much alike.
No the 49ers wont hang 31 points on this defense. They are all fired up now. Makes a diff when your offense does its job.

I dont know why anyone would think the Titans couldnt win this one. Smith is awful.
