Jesse Barfield was apparently pushed down stairs by his 18 year old son, Jeremy who is a NY Mets 9th round draft pick. I hate to read stuff like this.

No but you can say that about any athlete. Would the fact that Paul DoLuca has a fettish for teenage girls be newsworthy if he wasn't an athlete?

This was odd, why the hell would you push your father down stairs? I don't know if he signed with the Mets yet but I wonder if they will do anything.

Well, firstly it would involve PR. If they're investing hundreds of thousands of dollars in the kid, I'm sure they'd try to make sure the kid doesn't have any emotional problems. Then again, I'm sure they already checked all that out prior to drafting him.

Marvin Gaye got into a fight with his father, and his father ended up killing him with a gun. Some arguments can turn into deadly fights if the anger accumulates. I hope Jesse Barfield recovers from his head injury. As for his son Josh Barfield, I will "boo" him whenever he steps up to the plate.

Woah there Marc, don't jump to conclusions. And anyway, why boo Josh? Jeremy is the one who pushed his father.

You both have valid points. It could have been something that just got out of hand. Alternatively, maybe Jeremy is tightly wound, which would make a difference to the Mets. Remember Fred Wilpon is a guy who traded Kris Benson because his wife was a moron.

I happen to have met Jesse several times when he was in Cleveland. He is a great guy and I hope he recovers from his head injury. Bravo for him to get the police involved. I have a 23 year old son and if he ever pushed me down the stairs I would prosecute him. You do everything for these kids and they appreciate nothing. God Bless you Jesse.
