Padres vs. Florida Marlins

The Padres start a two series home stretch today. Florida is on the schedule first. As we all know Florida is the worst team in baseball. I'm hoping that the pressure for the Pads to beat this pathetic team will get to them and that they lose all three.

Pitching for the Pads is Young who has been very strong as of late. Nolasco for the Marlins has a low 3.15 era but only has four starts. Lets see how this one ends up.

I believe that honor belongs to the Kansas City Royals... The Marlins have some good talent on their team- Cabrera, Ramirez, Uggla, etc...

I agree with MVB on this one, pete_b.

But first of all, how could you forget Dontrelle Willis on that list of the Marlins stars, MVB? I'm just kidding because you used "etc." with means the rest of the 40-man roster.

The Marlins are definitely a team that is built for the future. In otherwords, they shouldn't win a championship for a few years--until their players have matured into All-Star. I think Miguel Cabrera is already an All-Star, and doesn't need any maturing. I still leave Dontrelle Willis as a question mark because of his inconsistency!

Re: Padres vs. Florida Marlins

I stand corrected. The Florida Marlins have five more wins than the Kansas City Royals which does make the Royals the worst team in baseball. Perhaps I should have said the worst team in the National League. Would anyone argue with me about that.

They have to sign these two to long term contracts, which I am not sure they have done...before they can build a team for the future...

Re: Padres vs. Florida Marlins

With another outstanding outing by the Pads pitcher Young, the Pads improved their record to 32-29. Young went six innings and gave up only one run striking out TWELVE...wow. Hoffman got his fourteenth save of the season. Nolasco of the Marlins got his third loss of the season but only gave up three runs in six innings. Tough loss for the Marlins.

Today, Hensley of the Pads goes up against Olsen of the Marlins. Hensley has a 4.15 era in ten starts and is coming off a tough outing vs the Brews. This isn't gonna be an easy win for the Pads.

Re: Padres vs. Florida Marlins

The Pads lost to the Marlins yesterday by a score of 1-2. Hensley only gave up two runs to the Marlins but it was enough because Olsen pitched seven two hit innings.

On the mound today for the Pads is Peavy who is coming off of a rough outing vs. Milwaukee. And for the Marlins its Moehler who has an era that looks like a PPG for basketball of 7.17. Ill give this one to the Pads.

Re: Padres vs. Florida Marlins

Pads lost another one to the Marlins which makes their second in a row. By a score of 7-3, the Padres have proven that they are an inconsistent, shaky team. YES! Peavy gave up six runs in five innings on six hits. Moehler for the Marlins uncharacteristically went seven innings only giving up two runs.

Pads got an off day today before meeting with the Dodgers at Petco tomorrow.

Re: Padres vs. Florida Marlins

I think when all is said and done the Cubbies will be the worst team in the NL. Florida is going to get better as these young kids take some lumps and gain experience; they have been much better as of late. The Cubs are a pathetic mish mosh of players that will have they can handle in keeping ahead of Pittsburgh and out of the cellar.
