Greg Maddux is winless in his last nine starts. It's the second longest such streak of his career.
So what's the problem here? Why can't he win?

I think the last time Maddux won a game was when the Padres beat the Rockies back in May? LOL I think Maddux is past his prime obviously but sure doesn't help the fact the Padres are one of the worst hitting teams in baseball. He has lost a few low scoring games where he did pitch well but is clearly not the dominant Maddux we have seen in past years. Great topic!

Definitely, the Padres hitting and run support are an issue, as you say Quack Attack. Maddux allowed just one earned run and four hits in six innings against the Marlins yesterday, but lost the game 3-1. That makes the winless streak 11 and drops his record to just 3-7 on the season.

Another no-decision for Maddux, as the Padres bullpen gives up a pair of home runs and San Diego loses, 9-5.

WOW! Greg Maddux still has not won a game since your original post Chuck? LOL This has got to be so frustrating to Maddux who really it appears is not pitching that badly? Sounds like the bullpen is a mess for the Padres as they were leading last night when Maddux went out. This is all you can ask from your SP I believe is to leave the game with the lead?

I bet he is now wishing he would have retired last year...
