Padres Waive Marcus Giles

The San Diego Padres have waived second baseman Marcus Giles according to the AP, ending the Giles Brother's reunion.

"The Padres owe Marcus a $500,000 buyout of his $4 million option."

Marcus played in 116 games last season, hit .229 with 4 HRs and 39 RBI.

Re: Padres Waive Marcus Giles

He definitely deserves it. What a huge disappointment. I had him in fantasy for a while this year and was expecting much, much more production.

Ain't that the truth...I have followed this kid since his minor league days...and for a while he had some pop in that bat. What happened to him in San Diego?

No idea. I know that's a pitchers park out there, but that can't be an excuse for everything.

Pitcher's park yeah...power numbers down...but a .229 average?...heck let a pitcher bat in his spot if he is going to hit that.

Clearly the Braves must've known what they were doing, parting ways with the kid. Big bro isn't exactly tearing it up either in SD, right?

No...I often felt the Giles boys were a bit short of height etc to keep up the pace they began their career with. Especially in the post roid world of MLB.
