Re: Padres losing -- make that, WINNING -- streak The rubber game went to the Pads and the losing streak went down the toilet. Is this team really that good that they can beat Mulder? I am impressed. By a score of 10-8 the Padres won the last game of the series against the Cards. Mulder was out in the fifth and Peavy pitched five. This would have been a great game to be at, lots of hitting by both teams. Next up for the Pads are the Rockies who in the West are three and half games behind the DBacks and only two games above five hundred. For the pitchers, its Jennings from the Rockies, an oldie but goodie vs Thompson who in his two starts has a rock solid 3.00 era. Should make for an interesting match-up. Both these two teams are fighting for second place. The West is a toughy to call this year and not as weak as last year.

Re: Padres losing -- make that, WINNING -- streak The streak is back on. WOO WOO. The Padres lost this one by a score of 5-0. The Pads record is 26-25 and they are in fourth place in the West, 3.5 games behind the DBacks. You cant really blame the Pads for this loss though. Jennings pitched a complete game, giving up only two hits and three walks with seven strike outs. Thompson got rocked for three, and the bullpen didn't do much better. Today Young is on the mound for the Friars who is 3-3 with a 4.32 era. He is going up against Cook who is 5-4 with a 3.39 era. Both of these teams want the West bad, and actually have a chance. Competition is fierce here.

Re: Padres losing -- make that, WINNING -- streak The Padres beat the Rockies last night to improve their record to 27-25. Young pitched eight full innings and only giving up one hit and two walks before handing over the ball to Hoffman for the save. Its Hensley on the mound for the Pads and for the Rockies its Francis. Both of these guys have eras that are just a hair under four. Their records are about the same. This should be a pretty good game. I think its time for the Padres to find another closer tho. Hoffman is on his last legs.

Re: Padres losing -- make that, WINNING -- streak The Pads have a two game winning streak going as they beat the Rockies 3-2 and took two out of three in their series. Hoffman got his second save in a row and his eleventh of the season. Hensley of the Padres pitched six good innings only giving up two runs. The Pads scored three off of Francis and it was enough to improve their record to 28-25. The Pads are 2 and a half games out of first behind the DBacks. After a day off today, the Pads go on a seven game, two series road trip facing the Pirates and the Brewers. Should be an easy road trip for them.
