With the Phillies and Dodgers losing on Wednesday, the Padres amazingly came back in their game to raisetheir wild card lead. Plus, the Diamondbacks are about to win their game so the division lead should remain at 1 game.

The Padres were on a five game winning streak before tonights game. The Pirates had a one run lead in the 9th with two outs. Scott Hairston hit a clutch three run walk off home run to end the game.

The Padres increase their lead in the wild card race to 2 1/2 games over the Philadelphia Phillies.

They completed a sweep of the Bucs yesterday, and according to the Associated Press, with that win "the Padres pulled within a half-game of first-place Arizona, which was idle. They remained 2 1/2 games ahead of Philadelphia in the wild-card race." Going to be interesting to see if they can knock the Diamondbacks off their perch atop the NL West.
