Padres P Jake Peavy wants to pitch on three day rest so he can face the Diamondbacks.

"Peavy has it all worked out," writes Yahoo! Sports Tim Brown. "He'd pitch Wednesday against the Diamondbacks, miss the Colorado series, then pitch next Tuesday night in Los Angeles, on five days' rest, granting him extra recovery time. The schedule also would have Peavy pitch against only NL West teams for the final four weeks."

Well, Peavy wanted them and he got them, and the results weren't pretty.

According to the Associated Press, "The Arizona Diamondbacks took it as a challenge when Jake Peavy asked to face them on three days' rest... The worst-hitting team in the NL raked San Diego's ace for eight runs and defeated the Padres 9-6 on Wednesday night to take a one-game lead over San Diego in the NL West... The eight earned runs matched a career high for Peavy, who lasted only four innings, his shortest start since July 21, 2006." Be careful what you wish for, I suppose. You might just get it.

They don't make pitcher like they use to...ouch...4 innings...Didn't Christy Mathewson once hurl like 3 shutouts in one World Series?...the wimps these days...

Thanks alot jake. Mathewson threw threw shut outs in the span of five days in the 1904 Series versus the A's, allowing just 14 hits in 27 innings.

That's all I was saying Legend my friend...I could not remember the span of time...but I did recall that the class act known as Christy Mathewson threw three shutouts in one World Series.
