Whats Up With Peavy?

Pads ace Jake Peavy is 0-4 over his last five starts with an ERA of 4.06 since he picked up his most recent victory back on June 19. -- San Diego Union-Tribune

No trace of Padres offense in sight | The San Diego Union-Tribune

Re: Whats Up With Peavy?

He got his first win since June 19 yesterday, and according to the AP, he tweaked his delivery a bit leading up to the game: "Manager Bud Black said Peavy worked with pitching coach Darren Balsley on some mechanical adjustments, and it seemed to work...'He stayed a little taller over the rubber and his arm had a higher slot. That resulted in a better angle and created more of a downhill plane for his pitches,' Black said." Whatever he did, it worked.

Yeah, over the course of a season, I am sure you don't keep the sam mechanics...even hitters get in funks...it's a long season with lots of travel...you may be tired one day and start to develop bad habits.

No doubt, and when it comes to pitching at this level, I'm sure even the smallest change can have a huge impact.
