| Chris Young suspended Padres pitcher Chris Young was hit with a five-game suspension for throwing a punch in Saturday's bench-clearing brawl at Wrigley Field. It was the same punishment Derrek Lee of the Cubs got, and according to some, it was too stiff for Young's actions.
In a June 19 article, Nick Canepa of the San Diego Union Tribune writes, "Chris Young is guilty, all right, absolutely guilty – of self-defense. It's hard to understand. Hard for me, anyway. Where I grew up, when swung at, you swung back, because another swing was likely... Yesterday, Young was suspended for five team games and fined an undisclosed amount of his savings for his conduct during the fourth inning of Saturday's game at Wrigley Field. Young's misconduct was trying to save his own butt after Cubs first baseman Derrek Lee... charged the mound and took a poke at the 6-foot-10, 260-pound right hander."
So what do you think? Did Young deserve a five-game suspension or was the punishment too much for the crime?
