Padres Nearing Greg Maddux Deal

Ken Rosenthal writes the Padres are close to acquiring free-agent and future hall of fame pitcher Greg Maddux.

Maddux should do wonders at Petco and the Padres rotation would improve with his addition.

Interesting. I wonder if his signing would make the rumored Peavy for Manny trade more likely.

ESPN News is reporting that this deal has happened, Maddux will play for San Diego in '07. No word yet on the size of the deal, but this is a good move for the Padres.

Great signing, outside of Chicago, Maddux can be productive, I think he will do well in San Diego....

It's a perfect pitcher's park. Now the question is will he take himself out after 60 pitches instead of his usual 70?
