The San Diego Chargers have placed a non-exclusive franchise tag on Darren Sproles, running back-kick returner.
Anyone surprised?
I also read they are still trying to work out something with LT.

This deal saves LT, because I'm 99% sure that if they'd worked a long-term deal with Sporles he'd be gone but now they have to have him as a saftey blanket if Sporles bolts (no pun intended) after next season. LT got lucky

I think they actually need Tomlinson and sproles together, if one is hurt, they have the other.
I bet Tomlinson is feeling he will be replaced by Sproles as a starter come the regular season.

I am sure he will be replaced by Sproles as the starter. But they do need both of them.

I don't see Sproles starting...and the day of the 300 carries for the featured back may be over...I see them both getting 200-225 carries this season...

LT has a lot of carries on his legs...while Sproles won't start...he will definitely spell him...Sproles is a different type of runner...and his change of pace will be good to keep Defenses from keying on LT.

I am going to have to agree with you on this one. Sproles had a much better season than LT, evn though LT was injured for a good portion of the season. Sproles stepped up and dominated the RB position. It will be exciting to see who sees the field the most this coming season.
