| Re: Phillip Rivers era begins According to this story, yesterday was the first time Phillip Rivers had entered a full-squad practice as the starting quarterback of the San Diego Chargers. So in many ways, it marks the official start of the Rivers era, and so far so it, or so it seems. Rivers seems confident, and Tomlinson sounded like he has a lot of faith in the new QB, adding that he was looking forward to this season because "Everybody is saying, 'Can they win with a new quarterback? It's always a challenge for us athletes when people start talking about what we're going to do. It's a new challenge for us, and we look forward to proving people wrong."

| Re: Phillip Rivers era begins Well, that makes the trifecta, because I ALSO agree that they should've kept Brees. They were a playoff team with him, with Rivers they're .500 tops. Rivers may yet be a good QB but there's no reason why you just dump a Pro Bowl caliber quarterback like Brees to take a chance on a guy who has as much a shot to be the next Heath Shuler as he does the next Peyton Manning. |

| Re: Phillip Rivers era begins Uh-oh. Don't look now, but Rivers is playing pretty well. In fact, according to the author of this story, "Anyone who saw Saturday night's 15-for-21, 169-yard performance, which included a touchdown pass on the first drive, saw absolutely no regression in this offense. The team was fired up with Rivers at quarterback, and he looked the part of a five-year veteran... There will be no drop-off with this team this year. I'd expect Denver and San Diego to battle it out for AFC West supremacy this year. This is a playoff team, barring injury." I know it's early, but has Phillip Rivers won anyone here over yet? |

| Re: Phillip Rivers era begins I can't say that I am. One pre-season game doesn't mean a whole lot and I am not impressed with Green Bay at all. No doubt the Chargers have alot of talent, but Marty will find a way to mees up 2 or 3 games this season, like last year when he dind't throw 1 pass to L.T. the first two games of the season... The result? 2 losses.... |

While I'm making predictions, they will sweep KC and Oakland, and split with Denver. |

| Re: Phillip Rivers era begins seems to me this is another one of those cases of 'we cant sit the guy when he is making so much money' i could be wrong in this case, but it seems to happen alot no matter how well someone is doing, if another player at the same position is making more money they get more chances most of the time
