Rivers had ACL injury

The San Diego Chargers and Phillip Rivers have confirmed, via the San Diego Union-Tribune, that the quarterback did indeed have a severe ACL injury.

He had hush-hush surgery on the Monday before the game to clean up the knee, and now it looks like he will have to undergo reconstructive surgery and will be in rehab for next to six months. How severe with the injury? According to the paper, Rivers had "essentially no anterior cruciate ligament in the knee" during the AFC Championship. Ouch, this is one double-tough kid.

Re: Rivers had ACL injury

What Rivers did was very impressive but totally stupid, he is the future of this franchise. He could've wrecked his career.

Re: Rivers had ACL injury

He wanted to make sure he gave the superbowl his best shot. You can't blame him...he may never make it back to that point, but you are right. He could have ruined his career.

Re: Rivers had ACL injury

I doubt he could have any more damage or no doctor would have let him out there. This makes LT even more of a gutless coward now.

More like dumb to let him play like that...could have been his career and the frachise QB gone all with one good sack

Impressive but totally stupid... yeah, I think that about sums it up perfectly, bears.

But hey, when the Super Bowl's on the line, I guess sometimes people do stupid things. I admire the kid's fortitude.

Just to add on what happens if the Chargers win the game? Is he healthy enough to even play in the Super Bowl?

Well, if he played in the AFC Championship, I'd have to think he'd also try to play in the Super Bowl, don't you?
