wasnt it them that Eli Manning refused to go play for during the draft

True, but with the Giants 2005 pick, the Chargers got Shawne Merriman.

Oh yeah, good point. I forgot about that. Downright steal, then - the slightly better QB and a defensive stud like Merriman.
