The 37-year old receiver was cut today by the Chargers. It's possible he can hang up his cletes and call it a career. He can probably get a shot with a team still though.

If he ends his career now, he'll be 9th all-time in receptions and 18th in receiving yards.

Wow, now that's hard to believe... I know he's been around forever, but it's hard to think of his statistically as a top 10 or top 20 guy.

I still don't think of him that way... He got lucky to have had his hand in the era of the West Coast Offense....that's part of the reason their is a gap ibetween his catches and yards (list wise),

If you pit him against receivers of his era, his numbers are not that great...look at Jerry Rice, Cris Carter, Tim Brown...I say "no"...

I agree. His catches and yardage numbers are impressive, but with out of whack eras and comparitively low number of TD catches he has, I don't see how McCardell belongs. Plus he's only been a 2-time Pro Bowler. That's very telling when you compare him to other wideouts of his era.

I don't see him as a Hall of Famer either but he sure will stick around the campfire with those yardage numbers.
