| Michael Turner Word is the Chargers are actively promoting restricted free agent RB Michael Turner in the hopes that they'll be able to secure a first round draft pick for him. It's pretty much a given that he'll be starting somewhere else next season, possibly for one of the New York teams. So what do you think of this news?

Re: Michael Turner ![]() Michael Turner is a one helluva player and has the potential to be a starter on many teams. and sports a 6.3 yards per carry."...would luv to have him in the Cowboy's back-field that's for sure. Alongside the Jets and Giants, the Panthers will desperately be looking for some solid backfield help to alleviate the pressure from Jake Delhomme's shoulders. The Texans could possibly be in the running, unless they take what Ron Dayne did in the latter half of the season and give him a contract. Cleveland and Washington both share a dilemna of injury-prone running backs (Droughns and Portis). These two teams may be looking for insurance and will have the cap space to accomodate Turner. San Diego would lose arguably the best backup running back in the NFL, as well as their kickoff returner.Either way Turner's gonna get paid a bundle. ![]()

Re: Michael Turner Well, think about most of last year's playoff teams. A lot of them, maybe the majority of them ran two-back systems. Indy with Addai/Rhodes, New England has three if you count Faulk, the Bears split time between Jones and Benson, Dallas has Jones and Barber, Saints have Bush and Deuce. Yeah, you have exceptions like Alexander or LT (but then, to some degree, Turner did see his fair share of carries this season as well). So, yeah, two backs seems like the way to go.

Re: Michael Turner Looks like Turner may be staying in San Diego. According to Yahoo! Sports' rumors page, "The agent for Michael Turner says it looks like his client will be staying with the San Diego Chargers. The Chargers and the Tennessee Titans have been talking, and the Buffalo Bills have also been in the mix... 'As of right now, it looks like Michael is going to be in San Diego,' agent Bus Cook said. 'Things could change, and it could happen on draft day, too.'"

Re: Michael Turner Turner has signed the team's one year, $2.35 million tender. He's now no longer a free-agent, but he could still wind up elsewhere. According to the AP, Chargers GM A.J. Smith "is still open to trading Turner. He would like to get a first- and third-round pick, either this year or next, but has said he'll listen to all offers... On Wednesday, he said teams have offered 'less than I would like' for Turner, a bruising 237-pounder who averaged 6.3 yards per carry last year in spelling Tomlinson." What would you offer for the kid if you were an NFL GM?
