San Diego Chargers linebackers coach Greg Manusky, who made the All-Madden Team as a hard-nosed player, will interview today for the 49ers defensive coordinator position.
Manusky, 40, helped a Chargers defense that led the NFL with 61 sacks last season. In six years as a coach, he has sent five players to the Pro Bowl, including Shawne Merriman, Donnie Edwards and Junior Seau.
More important for the 49ers, he is experienced with the 3-4 defense that Coach Mike Nolan prefers.
Manusky is the third candidate to interview for the job since Billy Davis was fired shortly after the season. He follows former New York Jets and Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Donnie Henderson and Jacksonville Jaguars secondary coach Dave Campo.
