Re: Will Chargers Fire Marty Schottenheimer?

Now that Russ Grimm has been rejected by the Steelers, I wonder if the Chargers will reneg on keeping Schottenheimer and going after possibly Grimm or maybe Ron Rivera after the Super Bowl is over.

Maybe they can hire Grimm to replace Cameron, then if Marty walks after this season, just promote him to head coach and carry on smartly.

Exactly. I know the playoff loss to to the Patroits hurts and you want someone to blame but don't throw the baby out with the bathwater so to speak. Not only is Marty a great coach who did wonders with the Chargers and who has the respect of his team (a rare thing nowadays) but it's not like there is someone out there who would be the second coming of Vince Lombardi to replace him. I mean if you're gonna fire him just to give the job to Wade Phillips than don't even bother.

Right now, Marty is the best option for them going forward in the near future. With another loss in the playoffs next year, general manager A.J. Smith will think long and hard on replacing him.
